District administration takes action against smuggling at Torkham border

PESHAWAR: In ongoing crackdown on smuggling, the Khyber District Administration has seized a large quantity of foreign cigarettes, medicines, and pan worth lakhs of rupees from a warehouse at the Torkham Border.

According to sources, the raid was conducted on the instructions of Deputy Commissioner Khyber Captain (Retd) Sanaullah Khan, who led a special team comprising Assistant Commissioner Landikotal Adnan Mumtaz, Tehsildar Torkham Dawood Afridi, Tehsildar Landikotal Taimur Afridi, and FC (North).

The team seized over 12,000 packets of foreign cigarettes, Indian medicines, pan, and other items from the warehouse located in Bacha Meena.

The smuggled goods were to be transported to Peshawar and other districts, but the raid was conducted after receiving a tip-off.

The seized items have been taken into official custody, and legal proceedings are underway.
