Lahore: A meeting of the District Peace Committee was held at Nadir Hall here on Saturday to review the committee’s role in maintaining peace and promoting religious harmony, particularly during religious events. Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ali Ejaz, DIG Operations Muhammad Faisal Kamran and Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore Syed Abdul Raheem Shirazi chaired the meeting, which was attended by Chairman District Peace Committee Mufti Intikhab Alam and other members. The participants appreciated the Peace Committee’s role in ensuring a peaceful environment during Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH), Ashura, Ramadan and other religious occasions.
The DC said the committee members had consistently worked as a team and helped resolve issues through mutual cooperation. He said the committee had played an important role, particularly during difficult situations, adding that its contribution to maintaining peace and stability was vital in addressing challenges faced by the country. DIG Operations Muhammad Faisal Kamran appreciated the committee’s services during major religious events, saying its members had remained in close coordination with the administration and police.
He said the committee had played a positive role in promoting religious and interfaith harmony, from grassroots-level engagement to major public events, particularly in sensitive situations. CTO Lahore Syed Abdul Raheem Shirazi also commended the committee members for their efforts, saying their contribution to maintaining law and order and promoting harmony was highly appreciable. Chairman District Peace Committee Mufti Intikhab Alam said the committee would continue working for peace, brotherhood and harmony in the district. He thanked the administration and police for their cooperation and reiterated the committee’s resolve to continue playing its role in maintaining peace. At the conclusion of the meeting, certificates of appreciation were presented to members of the District Peace Committee in recognition of their services. A special prayer was also offered.
