Multan: The district administration has launched a district-wide inspection of LPG plants to ensure compliance with safety standards and curb practices posing risks to human lives.
The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Dr Faisal Saleem, which was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Enforcement) Zahra Noor.
The deputy commissioner directed the authorities to take strict action against illegal LPG refilling plants and ensure implementation of prescribed safety SOPs.
Joint teams comprising officials of OGRA, Customs and the district administration have been constituted to inspect LPG plants across the district and take action against violations.
He also directed that substandard or unauthorized cylinders must not be filled at LPG plants and authorized assistant commissioners to conduct inspections and impose fines on violators.
The plants were further directed to supply only authorized cylinders to the market, with cylinders manufactured by the 14 authorized companies allowed for sale.
The deputy commissioner also directed OGRA to take effective measures to prevent mixing in LPG gas and ensure strict monitoring.
