Kohat: Commissioner Kohat Division Syed Motasim Billah Shah on Wednesday directed authorities to intensify action against militants, their facilitators and financial supporters to strengthen security and counter-terrorism measures across the division.
He issued the directives while chairing a meeting on implementation of the Provincial Action Plan at his office, said a press release. DIG Kohat Irfan Tariq, deputy commissioners, DPOs and officials of relevant departments participated through video link.
The meeting reviewed the law and order situation, security arrangements and progress on the counter-terrorism strategy. The participants also discussed measures to improve coordination among security and administrative agencies.
The commissioner directed authorities to ensure representation of all relevant agencies at joint check posts and improve timely information sharing.
He also ordered accelerated action against foreigners staying illegally in the country and directed officials to expedite profiling of religious seminaries and rent-a-car vehicles.
The meeting decided to regulate the placer-gold trade and take action against illegal mining. Officials also presented progress on decisions taken at the previous meeting.
Shah said negligence in security measures would not be tolerated and directed authorities to ensure timely implementation of decisions taken under the Provincial Action Plan.
