FAISALABAD: The Environment Protection Department has imposed heavy fine on the owner of a dyeing factory on the charge of polluting environment by violating Punjab Environmental Protection (Smog Prevention and Control) Rules.
Deputy Director Environment Johar Abbas Randhawa said in a statement on Sunday that the environment team checked various factories and brick kilns and found burning of prohibited material in the boiler of a dyeing factory situated at Jhang Road near Airport Chowk.
Therefore, the environment team sealed premises of the factory boiler and imposed a fine of Rs.200,000/- on the factory owner while further action was under progress.
Meanwhile, the environment team also imposed a fine of Rs.16000 on the drivers and owners of a number of vehicles which were found polluting environment by emitting excessive smoke while traveling on different roads, he added.
