Efforts being made for improvement in seed sector: VP PCCC

MULTAN:Vice President, Pakistan Central Cotton Committee (PCCC), Dr Muhammad Ali Talpur on Friday said that prosperity of farmers was top priority and efforts were being made to bring more improvement in seed sector.

Addressing a ceremony through video link organized at Central Cotton Research Institute (CCRI)on the eve of “World Cotton Day,” Dr Muhammad Ali Talpur said that all possible efforts were being made to make cotton crop profitable by bringing improvement in the sector.

He said that a comprehensive planning was being followed to increase per acre production with minimum expenses. He said that government would provide funds to research institutes for research purposes.

Speaking on the occasion, Director CCRI Multan, Dr Zahid Mahmood said that the CCRI introducing best seed by keeping in view the requirements of Textile industry. He said that cotton was back bone of country’s economy and the department was moving towards the latest technology.

Chairman Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA) Sohail Hurl said that seed of good quality seed and pesticides were need of hour to increase cotton production. He said that maximum facilities should be given to the cotton growers.

Later, a cotton walk was also organized to mark the day.
