QUETTA: Superintendent of Police (SP) Traffic Syed Asim Shah on Tuesday said that the construction of bridges on key routes specifically the CPEC road and the Quetta-Chaman highway has led to increased traffic pressure, making it difficult to maintain smooth traffic flow.
He said that however, traffic police personnel continue to perform their duties with diligence, courage, and integrity, despite enduring extreme heat and cold.
He noted that bridge construction work on the Quetta-Chaman highway and the CPEC road (near Kidney Hospital) has been underway for a long time but remains incomplete, this delay causes difficulties for citizens and travelers and exacerbates traffic congestion.
He stated that measures are being taken to further improve the traffic system in accordance with directives from higher authorities.
He said that under the special instructions of the DIG Quetta and SSP Traffic Quetta, operations against illegal encroachments are ongoing across the city to clear roads and ensure the smooth flow of traffic.
He added that enforcement actions are also underway to ensure compliance with traffic laws, specifically targeting the use of tinted windows, vehicles with incomplete documentation, and underage driving.
SP Traffic Syed Asim Shah appealed to citizens to follow traffic laws, refrain from allowing underage children to drive, keep all necessary vehicle documents in order and cooperate with the traffic police to help prevent accidents and improve the traffic system.
He stated that the traffic police are diligently performing their duties to ensure public convenience, safe travel, and the smooth flow of traffic on the roads.
