LAHORE:Senior Member Board of Revenue Punjab Zahid Akhtar Zaman on Thursday said that the establishment of new districts was a good initiative of the Punjab government which would provide basic facilities to the citizens at their doorsteps.
He said this while chairing a meeting regarding the functionalization of the district offices of the four newly created districts of Murree, Kot Addu, Wazirabad and Tallaghang. Secretary Revenue Mehr Shafqatullah Mushtaq, Director Development Punjab, DG PLRA, Ikramul Haque and other officers attended the meeting.
Commissioner Gujarat Division, DC Murree, DC Kot Addu, DC Wazirabad and DC Talagang participated in the meeting through video link.
In the meeting, the Deputy Commissioners of the respective districts informed the Senior Member Board of Revenue about the problems faced in the new districts and gave comprehensive briefing regarding the functionalization of newly formed districts.
Senior Member Board of Revenue Punjab Zahid Akhtar Zaman issued instructions to the Deputy Commissioners to create basic setup by immediately appointing officers in the new districts.
He said that Deputy Commissioners had been appointed in the four newly formed districts and they were starting to provide government services to the citizens by giving additional charge to the officers of the nearby districts. He issued instructions to the concerned Deputy Commissioners regarding construction of new buildings, adding that the PC 1 should be sent to the Board of Revenue as soon as possible and the construction work of district complexes, district offices and residential buildings should be started in the new districts.
He said that the maps of newly constructed government buildings should be prepared according to the modern style and the construction of old style buildings should be avoided. He said that special arrangements should be made for sitting of the citizens coming to the newly constructed government buildings. Lift should be arranged for the disabled and senior citizens, he added.
He said that the demands for the new setup should be sent as soon as possible and the purchase of furniture, machinery and other necessary equipment should be completed, so that government services could be started for citizens.
