Experts term early detection, cure, keys to maximize kids vision potentials

MULTAN:Experts in a symposium discussed in length about eye diseases of kids including paediatric cataracts, congenital diseases, laser surgery, retinopathy of prematurity, eye infection and diagnostic techniques and its cure to sensitize masses.

Organized under the auspices of the Opthamaology Department of Govt Shehbaz Sharif Hospital (GSSH) and a pharmaceutical company at a local hotel, the symposium underlined the need for early detection and treatment which are keys to maximizing kids’ vision potential.

The speakers including renowned surgeon Dr. Sohail Sarwar, Head of Ophthalmology dept CMH, Brig Dr. Kashif Ali, Children Complex Associate Prof, Dr Ajmal Chaudhary and others explained the signs, cure, and surgery procedures of different diseases.

GSSH consultant surgeon, Dr Irum Raza welcomed the guests and informed them that a first-ever webinar was also arranged in Multan wherein Dr Shahzad Shafaq (UK), Dr Vivek Dev (India), Dr Shabana Chaudhary (Meo Hospital Lahore) and Dr Muhammad Amjad from Shifa International Islamabad shared their experiences on Usher Syndrome, childhood glaucoma and squint in eyes.

She said that such seminars should be arranged frequently for academic discussions and sensitization of the public.

Among others known eye experts Dr. Tehsin Sahi, Dr Manzoor Malik, Dr Afzal Bodla, Dr Sabika, Dr Navid Sadiq, Dr Ijaz Latif, Dr Sajid Khichi, Dr Ghulam Hussain Asif, Dr Latif Chandia, Dr Zafar Iqbal were in attendance.
