Faisalabad: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Muhammad Nauman Siddique said that Faisalabad is set for a major makeover along its Canal Road as the district administration weighed an integrated beautification and recreational plan featuring landmark arches, memorial monuments, floating decks, modern lighting and extensive plantation alongside a dedicated walking track designed to give citizens a cleaner, more attractive and healthier space for leisure and exercise.
He was chairing a meeting where the officials examined plans aimed at enhancing the aesthetic appeal of Canal Road and creating better facilities for recreational and healthy activities. The deputy commissioner said that under the proposed beautification plan, the canal corridor from Jhal Bridge to Gattwala would receive a series of visual and landscaping improvements including decorative arches, memorial monuments, floating decks, modern lighting arrangements and plantation.
He said that construction of a dedicated walking track from D-Type Chowk to Jhal Bridge would provide a designated space for walking, exercise and other healthy outdoor activities.
The proposed walking track would be equipped with benches, waste bins and direction boards to facilitate visitors and ensure a comfortable and organized environment for pedestrians, he added.
He said that integrated planning was being undertaken to enhance beauty of Canal Road while providing a clean, pleasant and attractive environment.
The proposed projects would add to aesthetic appeal of the city and create improved opportunities for citizens to engage in recreational and healthy activities, he added.
He directed the relevant departments to ensure effective planning of the proposed interventions, keeping in view convenience of the citizens, environmental improvement and long-term visual appeal of the canal corridor.
He said that landscaping, plantation, lighting and public amenities would be incorporated in a coordinated manner so that the upgraded corridor could serve both aesthetic and recreational purposes.
The proposed improvements are expected to give a new character to one of Faisalabad’s prominent urban corridors while encouraging citizens to make greater use of outdoor spaces for walking, exercise and leisure, he added.
