Farmers in Sialkot benefit from Rs440m Kissan Card support

Sialkot: Assistant Director Agriculture (Extension) Rana Saleem Shad has said that farmers in the district have received seeds and fertilizers worth over Rs. 440 million through the Kissan Card scheme.

Due to the hard work of the field staff of the Agriculture Department, 98 percent of Kissan Card dues have been recovered in Sialkot so far. He expressed these views while talking to reporter.

He urged all remaining Kisan Card account holders to immediately deposit their outstanding recoveries at the Bank of Punjab, so that instead of Rs. 1,50,000, Rs. 3,00,000 per acre can now be deposited in their accounts by the Punjab government. In addition, an aid of Rs 5,000 per acre to wheat farmers by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif will also be deposited in the Kisan Card.

He said that now farmers will be able to withdraw 30 percent of the amount in their Kissan Card in cash through ATMs, while another 30 percent will be able to purchase diesel from PSO petrol pumps designated by the Punjab government. In addition, farmers will be able to purchase seeds and fertilizers with the remaining amount in their Kissan Card.
