Sukkur: Vice Chancellor of IBA University Sukkur and CEO of the SIBA Testing Services, Prof Dr Asif Ahmed Shaikh, while addressing a press conference regarding the MDCAT Test 2026 results here on Monday evening said that female students have achieved remarkable success in the test.
He said that out of 33,336 candidates who appeared in the test, 22,538 female students and 11,293 male students were declared successful.
Prof Dr Asif Ahmed Shaikh said that nine examination centers, including Islamabad, were set up for the MDCAT test and for the last three years the test has been conducted by IBA University Sukkur.
This year, 34,235 candidates registered, out of which 33,336 appeared in the examination. Among them were 12,505 male and 20,831 female candidates.
The Vice Chancellor said that the results were to be announced within the stipulated seven days, under which the results were released on September 27. Before the announcement, around 1,200 complaints were received which were reviewed before declaring the results. He said that 16,507 candidates who secured more than 99 marks were declared successful for MBBS, while 19,323 candidates who secured more than 90 marks were successful for BDS. In total, 14,013 candidates could not qualify.
According to Prof Dr Asif Ahmed Shaikh, 10,326 female and 6,181 male candidates were successful for MBBS, while 12,212 female and 7,111 male candidates were declared successful for BDS.
He said that four candidates left their papers blank. It is possible that these candidates left their papers blank on someone’s assurance. There are also 21 such candidates who scored only 30 marks. The list of these candidates will be handed over to the FIA for investigation to find out why the papers were left blank and what were the reasons for the low scores.
Speaking about his health, the VC said that when he fainted on the day of the test, the whole of Sindh prayed for him, for which he is grateful. He said some people alleged that he was acting, but no one can bring their blood pressure down to zero while acting.
His medical check-up was conducted by the DHO and at that time his blood pressure was extremely low. Prof Dr Asif Ahmed Shaikh further said that pressure does come and some people also give threats, but we are not going to come under anyone’s pressure.
