GILGIT:The upper mountainous regions of Gilgit Baltistan have received the first snowfall of the winter season, while intermittent rain has continued in Gilgit city, Skardu, Hunza and other areas since Wednesday afternoon, bringing a noticeable drop in temperature and affecting routine life.
The changing weather has intensified the cold across the region, prompting residents to wear warm clothes to protect themselves from the chilly conditions. Rainfall has affected daily activities in urban areas, while the cold weather has added to the difficulties of people carrying out their routine outdoor activities.
The first snowfall has covered the high-altitude mountains with a white blanket, marking the onset of winter in the region. Meanwhile, intermittent rainfall in the lower-lying areas has increased the chill, particularly during the morning and evening hours.
Traffic movement over Babusar Top has also been suspended following snowfall, affecting travel through the high mountain pass. Travellers and tourists planning to visit upper areas have been advised to check the latest road and weather conditions before setting out on their journeys.
The onset of colder weather has also increased the need for precautionary measures, particularly in high-altitude areas where snowfall and falling temperatures can affect road conditions and daily activities.
