District

Sargodha:The Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cardiology Sargodha has achieved another milestone with the successful performance of its first Caesarean section (C-section) on a pregnant woman suffering from a cardiac condition.

According to Dean Major General (retd) Dr Khurram Shehzad, successful C-sections were performed on two pregnant women, resulting in the birth of their babies. Both mothers and newborns were reported to be in stable condition and were being provided necessary medical care under the supervision of specialist teams.

The institute is also providing an important healthcare facility for pregnant women suffering from heart diseases who require coordinated cardiac and gynaecological care during childbirth.

According to the hospital administration, the gynaecology department has now become fully operational and is providing safe maternity services to pregnant women with cardiac conditions.

The achievement was made possible through the professional expertise and coordinated efforts of a multidisciplinary team comprising gynaecologists, cardiologists, anaesthetists and other medical specialists.

The activation of gynaecological services at the Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cardiology is a significant healthcare facility for pregnant women with cardiac diseases, enabling them to receive specialised maternity and cardiac care closer to home.

The development also reflects the Punjab government’s efforts to provide modern, quality and safe healthcare facilities to citizens closer to their communities.

Both mothers and their newborn babies were reported to be doing well.
