Multan: District administration has demolished five brick kilns for not adopting zigzag technology during a crackdown launched across the district on Thursday.
On the directives of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Wasim Hamid Sandhu, the team of environment department under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner Sadar Saif-Ul-Islam, launched a crackdown against the brick kilns causing environmental pollution and failing in shifting kilns on latest zigzag technology. The team demolished five kilns and closed many others over violations besides imposing heavy fine on the owners.
Speaking on the occasion, the AC Sadar Saif-Ul-Islam said that zero tolerance policy was being adopted against environmental pollution.
He said that warnings have been issued repeatedly to owners to shift the kilns on zigzag technology.
He said that final notices have been issued to various kilns otherwise their kilns would also be demolished without any discrimination. He said that action was also being taken against the citizens involv
ed in burning garbage and using plastic bags.
