Five martyred in two separate terror attacks in DI Khan

District


Dera ismail khan: Five personnel, including four Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) employees and a Highway Traffic Police official, were martyred and another police official injured in two separate terrorist attacks here on Tuesday.



According to police, the first attack occurred near Saadullah Hotel at Mufti Mahmood Chowk in the jurisdiction of Shorkot Police Station, where highway traffic police mobile-3 was deployed at a checkpoint. Meanwhile, unknown militants opened fire on the police vehicle, killing its 34-year-old driver named Habib son of Sabz Ali, and injuring Head Constable Muhammad Subhan.



The injured official was shifted to hospital, while a heavy police contingent reached the scene and launched an investigation.



The attackers managed to escape after the assault.



In the second incident, armed militants targeted FBR personnel near Qureshi Morr at ‘Ubhaya PUl’ in the jurisdiction of Gomal University Police Station.



Four FBR employees were killed while performing official duty.



The deceased were identified as 29-year-old Waseem, son of Ghulam Yousaf; 37-year-old Rehmatullah, son of Mirbaz Khan; 25-year-old Salman Elahi, son of Elahi Bakhsh; and Muhammad Owais, son of Jahangir.



Reportedly, two of the victims were permanent employees, while the remaining two were contractual workers of FBR.



Security was tightened across the district and adjoining areas following the attacks, while police and security agencies launched search operations to trace the perpetrators.



The funeral prayers of all five martyred personnel were later offered at police lines Dera Ismail Khan with full official honours.



Senior civil, police and military officials attended the funeral prayers and paid tribute to the victims.
