PESHAWAR:Under the special campaign of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority, a crackdown against adulteration mafia has continued in Peshawar, said a spokesman of the food authority department here on Wednesday.
Upon receiving secret information, food safety teams suddenly raided various factories on Pundu Road, Peshawar. The team seized more than 5,000 liters of mislabeled and non-standard cooking oil from a factory, a food authority spokesman said.
He said substandard virgin oil was being filled in tins to be supplied to the city markets, and the factory owners had booked under the Food Safety Act.
He said the adulteration mafia would not be allowed to play with the health of citizens, director general, Halal Food Authority Shah Rukh Ali Khan, was quoted as saying.
DG Food Authority said directives have been issued to the food authority officials to continue their raids in order to stop that practice and should book those involved in this practice under the Food Safety Act.
