Foreign woman rape case accused remanded in kidnapping, robbery case

Lahore

LAHORE:A local court on Wednesday remanded Ahmed Tanveer, an accused in the alleged rape case involving a foreign woman, and another suspect, Ehtisham, into police custody for three days in a kidnapping and robbery case.

The two suspects were produced before a judicial magistrate at Model Town Courts, where police sought their physical remand for further investigation.

The investigating officer told the court that the complainant had identified both suspects during an identification parade.

However, defence counsel Safdar Shaheen Pirzada opposed the police request and urged the court to dismiss the plea for physical remand.

After hearing arguments from both sides, the court handed over the suspects to Ichhra police on a three-day physical remand.

The court directed the police to produce the accused again on November 7 along with a report on the progress of the investigation.

Ichhra police had registered the case over allegations of kidnapping and robbing a citizen.
