Mirpur: Four students with hearing and speech disabilities from the Kashmir Institute of Special Education (KISE), Mirpur, have passed the Intermediate (FA) examination conducted by the Punjab Board of Technical Education, Lahore, with distinction, earning appreciation from their parents and teachers.
KISE Director Dr Amjad Ansari told reporter on Monday that Momina Asif secured the highest marks among the four students, obtaining 895 out of 1,150 marks, followed by Sarah Ilyas with 885 marks, Abdul Aziz Khan with 878 marks and Hafsa Mujahid with 870 marks. The students, who primarily communicate through sign language, achieved a 100 percent pass rate, continuing the institute’s strong academic performance.
Dr Ansari said the students had also performed exceptionally well in their matriculation examinations. He explained that due to the absence of facilities for conducting FA examinations for students with hearing disabilities under the Azad Jammu and Kashmir educational board, they appeared through the Punjab Board of Technical Education, Lahore.
He said the students were taught the complete syllabus through sign language, requiring specialized teaching methods and dedicated efforts by KISE faculty. He added that the results reflected the students’ hard work and determination as well as the commitment of their teachers to inclusive and quality education. Chairman Ansari Welfare Trust Dr Muhammad Yasin, Basharat Shaheen, President Mirza Wajahat Baig, KISE Principal Muneeza Abrar, NGO representatives Dr Tahir Mahmood, Muhammad Shakeel Chaudhry and Agha Shabbir Hussain, along with other members of civil society, congratulated the students, their parents and teachers on the achievement.
