PESHAWAR: The district administration here on Friday sealed four private and government educational institutions, including a madrassa after inspections found their buildings in a dilapidated condition and vulnerable to collapse.
The action followed directives from Deputy Commissioner Peshawar Afaq Wazir to inspect educational institutions and ensure the safety of students and staff in the wake of the Dir Colony school tragedy.
Administrative officers inspected buildings in different parts of the city and sealed four institutions as a precautionary measure due to their unsafe structures.
The sealed institutions include Moonlight School and a madrassa in Ganj Mandi, Rimsha School in Yakatoot and a Government Primary School in Lahori Gate.
The district administration said inspections had identified other buildings in poor condition and further action would be taken against educational institutions found operating in unsafe premises.
Officials said the measures aimed to prevent further tragedies and protect students and teaching staff.
