Karachi: Speakers at a World Tourism Day event organised by the FPCCI Central Standing Committee on ‘Tourism Economy’ in collaboration with the College of Tourism and Hotel Management on Monday called for tapping the vast potential of Pakistan’s tourism sector.
The event, held at the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Head Office, was addressed by Convener of the FPCCI Central Standing Committee Salman Javed, Senior Vice President FPCCI Saquib Fayyaz Magoon, Managing Director Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) Aftab Ur Rehman Rana, who participated virtually, and Executive Director College of Tourism and Hotel Management, Karachi, Sabir Ahmed.
The speakers said Pakistan had significant potential for tourism development, which needed to be fully explored and promoted.
They noted that most tourism companies were primarily focused on outbound travel, while only a few newly established companies were working on inbound tourism and facilitating foreign tourists visiting Pakistan.
They stressed the need for greater focus on inbound and domestic tourism to promote the country’s tourism industry and generate economic opportunities.
The stakeholders also expressed their full-fledged support for the government in promoting domestic tourism and developing the tourism sector.
