Lahore:The Punjab Police Special Operations Cell has carried out another significant operation, apprehending a dangerous proclaimed offender (PO) wanted in a murder case, from Oman and brought him back to Pakistan.
PO Yasser Iqbal was wanted for the murder of a citizen in Alipur Chattha area in 2008 and had been on the run for the past 16 years. The cell, through Interpol assistance, successfully captured the culprit from Oman. Upon arrival at Lahore Airport, a team from Gujranwala Police took the PO into custody. According to the Punjab Police spokesperson, the total number of proclaimed offender apprehended from abroad this year has reached 73.
IGP Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar commended RPO Gujranwala Tayyab Hafeez Cheema and CPO Rana Ayaz Saleem for their effective supervision in capturing the A-category dangerous fugitive. The IGP Punjab directed that legal proceedings be expedited to ensure the criminal receives appropriate punishment and emphasised further cooperation with Interpol and FIA to capture and ex
tradited other dangerous criminals.
