ISLAMABAD:A three-day Provincial Working Group on planning for Gavi 6.0 continued its second day in Punjab, bringing together senior immunization officials and international development partners to develop strategies for improving vaccination coverage and strengthening disease surveillance.
The meeting was attended by Director General Federal Directorate of Immunization (FDI) Dr. Musa Khan, Additional Director EPI Punjab Dr. Naveed Akhtar, World Health Organization (WHO) representative Dr. Xia Wei and UNICEF representative Dr. Yasmine Challoub, alongside representatives of other partner organisations.
Discussions focused on strengthening immunisation service delivery, identifying and reaching zero-dose and under-immunized populations, improving routine immunization coverage and enhancing surveillance and response to priority vaccine-preventable diseases.
The working group brings together representatives of Punjab’s Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI), FDI, technical focal persons, WHO, UNICEF, civil society organisations, development partners and technical experts.
Facilitated by Delivery Associates, the exercise aims to identify relevant and high-impact interventions aligned with Punjab EPI’s priorities for the next three years.
The initiative is expected to help strengthen routine immunization services, address vaccination gaps and improve protection against vaccine-preventable diseases across the province.
