GCWUF completes Greywater Reuse Project to save water

District

FAISALABAD:Government College Women University Faisalabad (GCWUF) under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Kanwal Ameen completed a Greywater Reuse Project at the female ablution area near university mosque to conserve groundwater and reduce electricity consumption.

A GCWUF spokesperson said that an underground RCC tank with a capacity of approximately 21,500 liters collected the used water for irrigating lawns and washing roads and pathways, reducing reliance on fresh groundwater.

The project also replaced a 4.5-ampere double-impeller pump which draws groundwater from a depth of 130 feet, with a 2-ampere monoblock pump, reducing electricity consumption for gardening by at least 55 percent.

The initiative reflected the Vice Chancellor’s commitment to efficient resource management and practical environmental conservation, the spokesperson added.
