District

ABBOTTABAD:Secretary Regional Transport Authority (RTA) Hazara Omar Khan Tuesday announced a series of measures aimed at improving the transport sector in Hazara Division. He expressed these views in a press statement.

The secretary said that these reforms are expected to streamline services, enhance accountability, and benefit commuters and passengers.

Omer Khan stated that all commercial vehicles will be required to remove speakers and tape recorders. This step is aimed at ensuring a peaceful and comfortable travel experience for passengers.

In a move to address a crucial aspect of public service, the government plans to provide adequate facilities for clean drinking water at the bus fare counters located all across the Hazara division. This provision is expected to benefit travellers, especially during long journeys, the secretary of RTA said.

He said that to promote transparency and efficiency in the transport sector, Secretary RTA Hazara Omar Khan emphasized that all terminals will be awarded to the highest bidder through open public auctions, these auctions will not only enhance accountability but also contribute to increased government revenue.

The Secretary of RTA Omer Khan said that in a bid to halt the collection of illegal fees by unions and agents, a per-passenger fare-based system, equivalent to the fare for passengers using wagon stands, will be discontinued immediately. He said that this move is expected to prevent the exploitation of passengers and ensure that fares are collected in a legal and transparent manner.

Secretary Regional Transport Authority stated that taxis and Suzuki Bolan vehicles, among others, will be prohibited from engaging in commercial activities without route permits, while TMAs were also directed to discourage the involvement of unions in the management of stands, thereby promoting a more organized and efficient transport system.
