Quetta: Balochistan Governor Jaffar Khan Mandokhail on Thursday emphasized the need to focus specifically on quality education and modern skill development aligned with contemporary demands, enabling university students to make meaningful contributions to the economic and social progress of society.
He said that we must train one million experts in the field of artificial intelligence across the country, to turn this ambitious vision into reality, Vice-Chancellors of all public sector universities must play a pivotal and proactive role.
He expressed these views while presiding over the 16th Senate meeting of Sardar Bahadur Khan Women’s University (SBKWU).
Attendees included Balochistan High Court Justice Aamir Rana, Provincial Minister for Education Raheela Hameed Khan Durrani, Member of the Provincial Assembly Kulsoom Niaz Baloch, Provincial Secretary for Higher Education Hashim Khan Ghilzai, Higher Education Commission senior official Dr. Noor Amna Malik, Chairperson of the National Commission on the Status of Women Noreen Bano Lehri, and Principal Secretary to the Governor of Balochistan Abdul Nasir Dotani, along with other Senate members.
The Governor said that the efforts of Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Rubina Mushtaq and her entire team are commendable, much remains to be done to elevate the Women’s University to the ranks of Pakistan’s top universities.
He said that in accordance with the Supreme Court of Pakistan’s verdict, all contract employees at the Khuzdar, Pishin, and Nushki campuses of Sardar Bahadur Khan Women’s University would be regularized, specifically those who were appointed on a contract basis after fulfilling all legal recruitment requirements and prescribed regulations, and who are currently continuing their service.
It should be noted that a special committee has been constituted to thoroughly verify the employees’ documents and other required credentials prior to the regularization process.
Balochistan Governor Jaffar Khan Mandokhail mentioned that adherence to merit must be ensured in all university affairs and operations.
