QUETTA: Balochistan Governor Jaffar Khan Mandukhail on Tuesday said National highways play a key role in the sustainable development and prosperity of the country and the province.
He expressed these views while formally inaugurating the Zhob – Wana road during his two-day visit to Zhob.
The Governor said the expansion and construction of national highways is very important to connect the different provinces and cities of the country.
In this regard, Zhob division is very imperative geographically, it can provide a route to the entire Balochistan to other provinces of the country and to the neighboring country of Afghanistan, he said.
The Governor said for the people of Balochistan, Zhob is the shortest travel route to the federal capital.
It should be noted that earlier the route from Zhob to Wanasar was often closed due to landslides, all the travelers and the people of the adjoining areas were facing many difficulties.
For the first time, the people of all areas got an alternative way to come and go
to Khyber Pashtunkhwa and Punjab.
The Zhob to Wana road has now been opened as a short and barrier-free route for all commuters for twelve months.
The Governor said that in order to reduce traffic accidents, we have to make all the national highways as per the current and near future requirements.
There is an urgent need for all concerned departments to devise a comprehensive and integrated strategy to prevent traffic accidents on national highways, he said.
