Grand anti-encroachment operation launched in Peshawar

District

PESHAWAR:A grand operation against illegal encroachments has been launched in Peshawar to restore road boundaries and improve traffic flow, particularly along the Ring Road and adjoining areas.

Currently, the operation is underway in Garhi Qamar Din on Kohat Road, where heavy machinery is being used to remove illegal structures and encroachments in the presence of the Deputy Commissioner Peshawar.

Officials from the Peshawar Development Authority (PDA) and relevant departments are also participating in the operation.

According to the district administration on Monday, the primary objective of the operation is to eliminate illegal encroachments along the Ring Road and surrounding areas, restore the original boundaries of roads and remove obstacles affecting the smooth movement of traffic.

Authorities said that encroachments on roads, footpaths and public passageways create difficulties for commuters and pedestrians. Their removal is expected to improve traffic flow and provide greater convenience to residents.

The Deputy Commissioner Peshawar has stated that the operation will continue until the encroachments are completely removed.

The administration also plans to take measures to prevent illegal structures from reappearing and to protect government land, roads and public passageways from further encroachment.

The district administration has appealed to shopkeepers and residents to avoid occupying roads, footpaths and public spaces. Citizens have also been urged to cooperate with the authorities to maintain smooth traffic flow and ensure public convenience. The ongoing operation is part of the administration’s efforts to restore the proper use of public spaces and improve traffic conditions in Peshawar.
