Healthy lifestyle key to prevent heart diseases

Islamabad

Islamabad: Assistant Executive Director, Polyclinic, and Assistant Professor of Community Medicine Dr Abdul Jabbar Bhutto has urged people to adopt a healthy lifestyle, exercise regularly, maintain a balanced diet and undergo routine medical check-ups, particularly in old age, to reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases.

In a message on the occasion of World Heart Day, Dr Abdul Jabbar Bhutto emphasized that prevention and early detection were essential for protecting heart health and maintaining overall well-being.

He advised people to make regular physical activity part of their daily routine and maintain a healthy body weight. He also stressed the importance of consuming a balanced diet containing fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains and other nutritious foods while limiting excessive intake of salt, sugar and unhealthy fats.

Dr Bhutto also urged people to avoid smoking and other unhealthy habits that could increase the risk of heart disease. He said regular health screening was particularly important for older people to identify and manage cardiovascular risk factors at an early stage.

He advised people not to ignore warning signs such as chest discomfort, unusual shortness of breath, dizziness or unexplained fatigue and to seek medical advice promptly when such symptoms occur.

He said greater awareness, healthy lifestyle choices, regular exercise, timely check-ups and early medical intervention could play an important role in reducing the burden of cardiovascular diseases and promoting healthier communities.
