ISLAMABAD:A hockey match would be played between Pakistan senior and junior teams in a bid to provide financial support to the family of the late Olympian Gold Medalist Mazhar Hussain.
The match would be played at the Lt Gen Ashfaq Nadeem (Late) Mari Hockey Stadium, Ayub Park, Rawalpindi on February 26 (Saturday).
Addressing a press conference at the Shahnaz Sheikh Hockey Stadium, Rawalpindi, Match Director Raja Shahid Mehmood Rawalpindi, District Hockey Association President Muhammad Yaseen (International) and Nasreen Mazhar, daughter of late Olympian Mazhar Hussain said there would be free entry for the hockey lovers to witness the match.
They said the Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Punjab Basharat Raja would be the chief guest of the match.
“Mazhar Hussain has valuable services in the field of hockey but his family is facing financial difficulties so this match which is being organized in collaboration with Pakistan Hockey Federation was to support them.”
Through this match not only the hockey lovers in Rawalpindi would get a chance to witness the best and toughest match but the game of hockey will also be promoted.
They said we thank Pakistan Hockey Federation, Government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Habib Bank Limited, Oil & Gas Development Company, Attock Refinery Limited, Go Petroleum, State Life, Mari Gas in organizing this match. The match would start at 3pm.
