Sargodha: Under the Honorarium Card Program launched by Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, honorarium cards were distributed among mosque Imams in Sargodha in a formal ceremony held at a local hall on Wednesday. Assistant Commissioner Sheerin Gul distributed honorarium cards worth Rs 25,000 each to Imams on behalf of the Punjab government. Speaking on the occasion, the AC said that for the first time in the country’s history, a provincial government had formally recognized the religious and social services of Imams Masjid by providing them with a regular honorarium. She highlighted the pivotal role played by religious scholars and Imams in promoting peace, religious harmony, tolerance and patience in society, as well as their consistent support to the state in maintaining law and order and combating extremism and terrorism.
