Islamabad: A shopkeeper was killed and four others were injured when a horrific explosion rocked a gas refilling shop on Railway Road in the densely populated area of Dunyapur on Saturday.
According to rescue officials, the explosion occurred when people inside the shop were warming themselves around a fire to escape the cold, adding, the sudden and powerful blast shattered the windowpanes of nearby shops, triggering panic throughout the area, a private news channel reported.
Local residents said the shopkeeper had lit a fire inside the premises due to the cold, which caused a gas cylinder to explode. The injured were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where they are currently receiving medical treatment.
Rescue authorities confirmed that relief operations have been completed, while further investigations into the incident are underway.
