IBMAS organizes seminar on IT based financial frauds

BAHAWALPUR: With the advent of technology, where the traditional financial sector has completely revolutionized, the incidence of fraud and fraudulent transactions has also increased.

This was said at a seminar on ‘How to protect yourself from financial scams?’ conducted by The Institute of Business, Management and Administrative Sciences (IBMAS) in collaboration with the Executive Training Centre here Thursday.

The talk was delivered by Dr. Muhammad Ahmad Cheema, a senior faculty member in Finance from the University of Otago, New Zealand. The session was chaired by Vice Chancellor Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob and attended by dignitaries from Bahawalpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry led by President Chaudhary Zulfiqar Ali Maan, representatives from State Bank of Pakistan, Pakistan Audit Department, Bank Al Baraka, Askari Commercial Bank, Habib Bank Limited, NRSP Microfinance Bank, Meezan Bank Ltd and various faculty members and students of the departments of Faculty of Management Science and Commerce.

In his closing remarks, the Vice Chancellor highlighted the importance of Financial Literacy and appreciated the initiative taken by Dr. Areba Khan Chairperson, Department of Islamic and Conventional Banking in arranging such a dialogue.
