Lahore: A weekly general parade was held in Lahore as well as across the province on Monday to promote discipline, unity and operational readiness among police personnel.
Senior police officers inspected the parade, while contingents participating in the general parade presented salutes. The parade witnessed full participation of officers and personnel from Police Lines, Dolphin Force, Anti-Riot Force, Traffic Police, Mujahid Squad, Special Protection Unit (SPU), Ladies Police, Investigation Wing and Operations Wing of various police stations.
According to a Punjab Police spokesperson, senior officers also checked the turnout and overall preparedness of the personnel during the parade. The contingents performed an impressive march past, while female police personnel also actively participated.
The spokesperson added that general parades are held regularly across the province every Monday. On the occasion, district officers also inspected the Kot, Motor Transport Wing, Miscellaneous Stores, Uniform Warehouse and other relevant departments.
Inspection General of Police (IGP) Punjab Dr Usman Anwar said that the purpose of the general parade was to keep police personnel alert at all times and to foster discipline, unity and a sense of brotherhood within the force. He said the general parade reflected the discipline, history, heritage and traditions of the police, adding that regular participation helped maintain physical fitness and further improved the overall performance of the force.
