IHC directs CDA to address parking issues in different sectors

Islamabad

ISLAMABAD:The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday directed the Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) to find a permanent solution of parking problems in various sectors due to vehicle showrooms, within one month.

Justice Babar Sattar, hearing the case, instructed the petitioner to also make IGP and SSP Traffic as respondents in the case.

Petitioner’s Lawyer Kashif Ali Advocate said that showroom owners could be fined for wrong parking or their vehicles could be seized, adding closing of their business was not a solution. He said that running showrooms in commercial areas was not violation of law.

The court questioned that whether the CDA had dedicated some plots in various sectors for parking of vehicles. The CDA’s lawyer said that he could answer after taking information from the civic body. The court said that the violations of law would continue if the authority didn’t find a permanent solution.

The court also asked the CDA to issue notices to any showroom prior to its sealing. Justice Sattar said that there would also be no sympathy for showrooms if they violated the law.

The court adjourned further hearing till one month.
