ISLAMABAD:The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday reserved its judgment on an appeal of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman against cancellation of his interim bail in nine cases.

A two-judge bench comprising Chief Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri reserved the verdict after hearing arguments from lawyers.

At the outset of hearing, the special prosecutor prayed the court to grant him time for submission of the report. He said that it was his first day and he needed time to understand the cases.

The chief justice said that the prosecution had stated in the previous report that the former prime minister was not arrested in nine cases.

The PTI chief’s counsel Barrister Salman Safdar said that they received the report two hours earlier.

Justice Aamer Farooq remarked that on the request of the petitioner, the court had sought details of all cases against him.

The lawyer said that the interim bails of his client in nine cases were cancelled in one day only. He said that a number of cases had been registered in the Federal Capital against the former prime minister pertaining to terrorism, foreign funding etc. Now his client had been arrested in the cipher case, he said.

He said that his client had been attending court hearings previously, but he could not appear before the trial court in nine cases for being in the jail.

The chief justice asked that whether the petitioner wanted the IHC to restore his interim bail cases in the trial court. The lawyer answered in affirmation.

The court, subsequently, reserved the verdict after hearing arguments from the lawyers.
