ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday issued notices to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and the Ministry of Information to respond to the petition against the national shutdown of the social media application X, formerly known as Twitter.
IHC Chief Justice Amir Farooq heard the petition filed by a journalist against the shutdown of the social media application.
During the hearing, the chief justice inquired whether X was only down in Pakistan. To this, the defence counsel said that the application had been down in Pakistan since February 17.
Subsequently, the court issued notices to the PTA and the Information Ministry, and adjourned the hearing.
