Abbottabad: Following the directives of Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad Sarmad Saleem Akram, the district administration on Wednesday carried out a major operation against illegal mining in Kakul Guzara Forest, resulting in the arrest of four accused and the seizure of vehicles and machinery.
According to official sources, Additional Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Tariq, along with officials of the Forest Department, conducted a site inspection in the light of a PC case received from the Forest Department and a letter issued by the Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) dated December 10, 2025. During the visit, forest boundary pillars were identified and illegal mining activities by Pak Hazara within the Guzara Forest area were confirmed.
During the operation, two tractor-trolleys and one jeep, fully loaded with phosphate, were taken into custody. A compressor and other equipment used in the illegal activity were also seized. The arrested suspects were shifted to Mirpur Police Station and are scheduled to be produced before the court.
The district administration reiterated that actions against illegal mining will continue under a zero-tolerance policy to protect natural resources and ensure the rule of law.
