PESHAWAR: The district administration and Capital Metropolitan Government on Friday demolished illegal structures and removed encroachments from several areas of Peshawar’s inner city during a joint anti-encroachment operation.
The operation was conducted on the special directives of Deputy Commissioner Peshawar and Administrator Capital Metropolitan Government Afaq Wazir under the supervision of Director General Metropolitan Salim Khan, Assistant Commissioner Basharat and Enforcement Officer Qaiser Bacha.
The teams carried out the operation in Lahori Gate, Hashtnagri, Ghanta Ghar and adjoining areas, removing illegal structures from roads, streets and public passageways.
They also demolished unauthorised constructions on government land.
Afaq Wazir said indiscriminate action would continue to clear public spaces and ease traffic and pedestrian movement in the city.
He warned that illegal occupation of government land and public spaces would not be tolerated and directed officials to take legal action against violators.
He also instructed the concerned departments to maintain strict monitoring to prevent the re-emergence of encroachments and continue the operation across the city.
