ISLAMABAD:Islamabad Medical and Dental College (IMDC) has urged people to prioritize cardiovascular health and adopt healthy lifestyle habits to reduce the risk of stroke.
In a message marking World Stroke Day, observed annually on October 29, IMDC experts highlighted the importance of raising public awareness about stroke prevention, emergency treatment and support for survivors.
They urged to focus on early warning signs and the importance of timely medical intervention. Stroke remains a major cause of death and disability worldwide, they added.
Health experts emphasized that controlling high blood pressure, diabetes and cholesterol, avoiding tobacco, maintaining a healthy weight, eating a balanced diet and engaging in regular physical activity can help reduce the risk of stroke.
They stressed that sudden facial drooping, weakness in an arm or leg, difficulty speaking, vision changes or loss of balance may indicate a stroke.
They asked people to consult qualified healthcare professionals for guidance on stroke prevention and cardiovascular health.
