ISLAMABAD:Islamabad Medical and Dental College (IMDC) has highlighted the importance of bone health and early osteoporosis detection on World Osteoporosis Day, urging people to adopt healthy lifestyles to reduce the risk of fractures.
The college emphasized that osteoporosis is a condition that weakens bones and often remains undetected until a fracture occurs, making awareness, prevention and timely medical assessment essential.
IMDC encouraged people to maintain bone health by consuming calcium-rich foods, engaging in regular physical activity, including walking and strength exercises, and ensuring adequate vitamin D through appropriate sunlight exposure and other sources.
It also advised individuals, particularly those at increased risk, to consult healthcare professionals about bone health assessments and bone mineral density testing for early detection and appropriate management.
The college stressed that preventive measures and healthy habits could help reduce fracture risks, preserve mobility and support an active lifestyle with advancing age.
IMDC reaffirmed the importance of public awareness and preventive healthcare in promoting stronger bones and improving quality of life.
