Sargodhga: A meeting to review progress on the Punjab Chief Minister’s flagship initiative, Clean Drinking Water for All, was held under the chairmanship of Commissioner Sargodha Division Shaukat Ali.
Officials of the Punjab Clean Water Authority (PCWA) briefed the participants on Phase-I of the project, which involves the installation of filtration, reverse osmosis (RO), and ultra-filtration (UF) plants in three districts of the Sargodha Division – Mianwali, Bhakkar, and Khushab.
The meeting was informed that a total of 586 filtration plants are being installed during Phase-I, including 164 in Mianwali, 211 in Bhakkar, and 211 in Khushab. The project carries an estimated cost of Rs3.8 billion and is scheduled for completion by June 30. It was further stated that the contractor will remain responsible for the operation, repair, and maintenance of the plants for one year after installation. Filtration plants in Sargodha district will be installed in Phase-II of the project.
Addressing the meeting, Commissioner Shaukat Ali emphasized that the provision of clean drinking water is among the most important public welfare priorities of the Punjab Chief Minister. He warned that no negligence or compromise on quality would be tolerated. The Commissioner directed that the proposed sites for filtration plants be re-evaluated to ensure maximum public benefit.
He further instructed the Deputy Commissioners to personally monitor the implementation process and ensure that all installations strictly adhere to prescribed technical and quality standards. Stressing collective responsibility, the Commissioner urged all concerned departments to work in close coordination to ensure the timely provision of safe and quality drinking water to the public.
The meeting was attended by Director Development Bilal Hassan, Deputy Manager Punjab Clean Water Authority Muhammad Shafiq, Deputy Commissioner Khushab Jahanzeb Hussain, Deputy Commissioner Mianwali Asad Abbas, Deputy Commissioner Bhakkar Ehsan Ali Jamali, CEO Punjab Clean Water Authority Naveed Ahmed, and Director Project Yasir Bashir, who participated via video link.
