Islamic calligraphy embarks with divine revelation; Senator Talha

RAWALPINDI:Senator Talha Mehmood on Tuesday said that calligraphy was purely an Islamic art that embarked with divine revelation.

He said this while addressing an Islamic Calligraphy exhibition of Aftab Ahmed Khan (late) organized at the Punjab Arts Council (PAC).in connection with the celebration of Eid Milad-ul-Nabi(SAW).

Talha said that 42 scribes of revelation were highly regarded in Islam and the purpose of this exhibition was to spread the message of love to the Holy Prophet(SAW).

He lauded the artist’s role of their great love for the religion of Islam through their works of art and beautiful colors.

Naheed Manzoor on the occasion said that the name of writing the words in the colors of aesthetic taste and passion with a pen on the canvas was calligraphy.

“When the calligrapher borrows these words from Quran, Hadith and spirituality, this art is connected with the ancient traditions of calligraphy.”

Director Arts Council Waqar Ahmed said that PAC was the galaxy of literature and culture, adding the Department of Information and Culture had achieved its goals with the support of the Punjab government where the talented people showed the charms of calligraphy.
