Islamabad: The Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) on Tuesday recommended the confirmation of ten additional judges of the High Court of Sindh as permanent judges, while also approving extensions and fresh nominations for the court’s constitutional benches.
The meeting was held in the conference room of the Supreme Court of Pakistan and was chaired by the Chief Justice of Pakistan in his capacity as Chairperson of the Commission.
According to the official press release, the Commission, after examining the data forms, antecedents and relevant material placed before it, recommended by a majority vote the confirmation of Justice Miran Muhammad Shah, Justice Tasneem Sultana, Justice Riazat Ali Sahar, Justice Muhammad Hasan (Akber), Justice Abdul Hamid Bhurgi, Justice Jan Ali Junejo, Justice Nisar Ahmed Bhanbhro, Justice Ali Haider ‘Ada’, Justice Muhammad Osman Ali Hadi and Justice Muhammad Jaffer Raza as judges of the Sindh High Court.
The JCP also granted a six-month extension to Justice Khalid Hussain Shahani and Justice Syed Fiaz ul Hassan Shah as additional judges of the High Court of Sindh.
In a parallel development, the Commission approved by majority the nomination of four judges to the constitutional benches of the Sindh High Court and extended the tenure of these benches by six months. The nominated judges include Justice Amjad Ali Bohio, Justice Muhammad Hassan (Akber), Justice Muhammad Osman Ali Hadi and Justice Amjad Ali Bohio, as listed in the official communication.
The recommendations will now be forwarded to the Parliamentary Committee for consideration and final approval, as required under the Constitution.
