Malakand: Jamaat-e-Islami Khyber Pakhtunkhwa North chief and former provincial minister Inayatullah Khan on Friday criticized the provincial government for prioritizing long march politics over public issues, saying the province was facing serious security, political and economic challenges.
Addressing a press conference at the party’s provincial office, he claimed that the PTI’s long march would not proceed beyond Attock Bridge and questioned the government’s priorities amid growing public concerns.
Inayatullah Khan said that the people had voted for PTI in the hope of better education, healthcare, improved law and order and relief from economic hardships, not to organize long marches.
He alleged that Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and the PTI leadership were focusing on political activities while citizens continued to face basic problems.
The JI leader expressed concern over the security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, saying police personnel, security forces and civilians were losing their lives, while the provincial government needed to take more effective measures to restore peace.
He said the government should prioritize law and order, improve conditions in public hospitals and bring nearly five million out-of-school children back into the education system.
He maintained that neglecting education and healthcare in favour of political activities would further aggravate public problems.
Inayatullah Khan also raised concerns over the security of elected government representatives, alleging that some ministers and lawmakers felt unsafe amid reports of arrests and detentions.
He questioned the imposition of Section 144 restrictions on PTI gatherings by deputy commissioners working under the provincial administration.
