Lahore: An important meeting of the Judicial Commission of Pakistan was held under the chairmanship of Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Yahya Afridi in which approval was given to make 11 judges of Lahore High Court permanent.
According to the announcement, the Judicial Commission has approved the appointment of 11 additional judges of Lahore High Court as permanent judges.
Justice Hassan Nawaz Makhdoom, Justice Malik Waqar Haider Awan, Justice Sardar Akbar Ali, Justice Syed Ahsan Raza, Justice Malik Javed Iqbal, Justice Muhammad Jawad Zafar, Justice Khalid Ishaq, Justice Malik Muhammad Owais Khalid, Justice Chaudhry Sultan Mahmood, Justice Tanveer Ahmed Sheikh and Justice Abhar Gul were made permanent.
According to the announcement, Additional Judge Raja Ghazanfar Ali Khan was not approved to be made permanent, while it was decided to give a 6-month extension to Additional Judge Tariq Mahmood Bajwa.
These decisions were made after the Judicial Commission reviewed the performance of the Additional Judges, their expertise in judicial matters, and their overall professional standards. With the completion of the number of permanent judges in the Lahore High Court, it is expected that the speed of judicial work and improvement in timely decisions of cases will improve.
