PESHAWAR: Vice-Chancellor Khyber Medical University (KMU) Peshawar, Prof. Dr. Zia ul Haq officially inaugurated the e-assessment system to make the University’s examination computerized.
In this regard, the opening ceremony was held at KMU-Institute of Health Sciences, Islamabad on Thursday, where Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zia ul Haq was the chief guest. Registrar Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saleem Gandapur, Additional Controller of Examinations Dr. Syed Hafeez Ahmed, Dean allied Health Sciences Prof. Dr. Haider Darain, Director IHS Islamabad Sheikh Muhammad Atif, other officers of the Examination Department, faculty and students were also present on the occasion.
It is worth mentioning that KMU is the first University in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa which has adopted the modern digital system of e-assessment to make examinations of various fields and levels easy, transparent and cost-effective. Under this system, all the undergraduate and postgraduate examinations organized by the university will be gradually converted into e-assessment (computer-based examinations).
Meanwhile, speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dr. Zia ul Haq said that today was a very happy day for us because today we had successfully tested e-assessment which would not only ensure transparency in exams but would also save time and resources besides ensuring the release of results within 48 hours.
He said that we have set a target to convert all MBBS, BDS, nursing and allied health sciences traditional method exams to modern e-assessment systems within the next six months.
The VC said that this system had already been approved by the academic council of the University, therefore we had decided to convert all paper-based undergraduate and post-graduate examinations into e-assessment of computer-based examinations for which development of the software and hardware was in progress on a daily basis and the day was not far when all KMU exams will be transferred from paper to computer in the near future.
