PESHAWAR:Adviser to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government on Home and Tribal Affairs on Monday reviewed the performance of the Dastak app-based arms licensing system and directed the authorities to ensure transparency, merit and timely processing of applications.
During a meeting, Section Officer (Arms) Faiz Muhammad briefed the adviser on the system’s performance, revenue generation, licences issued, cards printed and pending applications, said a press release.
The meeting was informed that the digital system had generated over Rs4.39 billion in online revenue, while more than 381,800 arms licences had been issued and over 380,000 licence cards printed.
Kifayatullah Khan appreciated the initiative, saying digital technology had reduced paperwork and unnecessary visits to government offices by allowing citizens to apply for arms licences and make payments online from their homes.
He expressed concern over delays in pending applications and directed the relevant departments to speed up biometric, police and other verification processes through better coordination.
He also stressed the need to guide applicants facing difficulties in completing biometric verification through Pak ID and NADRA to prevent unnecessary delays.
The adviser directed officials to regularly monitor pending cases, coordinate with departments responsible for verification and submit progress reports on the system’s overall performance.
He emphasised that all stages of arms licensing must strictly follow legal requirements, security regulations and prescribed procedures, adding that public facilitation and transparent service delivery should remain the top priorities.
