KP govt asks newspapers to implement Wage Board Award

PESHAWAR:The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has directed the all newspapers working in the province to pay salaries to their employees as per the Wage Board Award, said a dispatch sent to the chief editors of all newspapers working in province on Thursday.

The dispatch is sent under sub-section-4 of Section-6 of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Press, Newspapers, News Agencies and Books Registration Act, 2013 and also affirmed by the chief editors through an affidavit submitted to the Information Department, which make them bound to pay salaries to their respective employees as per the Wage Board Award.

The Chief Editors have been asked to meet the minimum requirements of Human Resources (HR) as per Section-7 (g) of the KP Govt Advertising Policy, 2022 and directed to provide all details of employees, their salaries and bank statements to the Information Department within 15 days positively.

President, Khyber Union of Journalists (KhUJ, Nasir Hussain and his cabinet has welcomed the decision of the provincial government and has termed it a positive step towards the resolution of the problems of the journalist community.

He has assured all possible cooperation to the Information Department and also called for more steps for provision of employment to unemployed journalists of the province.
