PESHAWAR:Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Adviser on Auqaf, Hajj, Religious and Minority Affairs Maulana Tayyab Qureshi on Monday said religious scholars and the public stand alongside the Pakistan Army to restore lasting peace and eliminate terrorism from the province, including its merged districts.

During meetings with delegations of religious scholars from Swat and other districts, he said the armed forces had made immense sacrifices for peace in KP, which the nation would always remember.

Separately, Maulana Tayyab Qureshi expressed grief over the martyrdom of Major Wajahat Waheed during an operation against Fitna al-Hindustan in Balochistan.

He said the officer had sacrificed his life for the country’s defence, peace and stability, setting an example of courage and devotion to duty.

He said the nation took pride in the sacrifices of its brave security personnel and prayed for the elevation of the martyred officer’s ranks and patience for his bereaved family.
